Leslie Worris is a highly trained charismatic educator, wellness consultant and coach who has passionately dedicated herself to helping individuals achieve mind and body fitness. Her twenty years of professional experience in health education includes clinical research in the biotechnology/ pharmaceutical industry, teaching seminars for health educators, lecturing at numerous medical and wellness conferences.
Through The Wellness Alliance, a wellness consulting business, Leslie helps individuals and companies of all sizes to empower employees to improve their health, thereby increasing corporate productivity and morale. Inspired by her own battle with chronic illness and background in healthcare, Leslie founded The Wellness Alliance, ten years ago.
The Wellness Alliance’s mission is to empower individuals to assess their lives and recognize that it is possible to take care of themselves and realistically fit exercise and a balance of work and play into their lives. Guided by this philosophy, Leslie designs customized wellness programs for people of all ages and health backgrounds – from healthy individuals working full time to those debilitated by chronic illness.
Leslie is particularly known for creating individualized custom programs for women, seniors, and people with chronic illnesses. She regularly works with businesses to help them meet their corporate wellness needs and conducts seminars on a variety of lifestyle and wellness topics including stress management, achieving and maintaining a healthy work and life equilibrium, finding time for fitness, and weight management. Leslie also teaches balance and fall prevention programs to private clients, Council’s On Aging (COA) and other community organizations. She is a consultant to the Arthritis Foundation and teaches life management and prevention programs for people dealing with osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, cancer, pain and arthritis.
In addition to her educational credentials and experience, Leslie has faced lifelong medical challenges that have increased her commitment to helping others stay healthy. She is equally comfortable working with overly sedentary young people to resistant older workers and hard driving stressed executives.
Leslie is an adjunct faculty member at Harvard University, Extension School in their Masters in Biotechnology program and at the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Health Professions. She is a Director of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council’s Clinical Research Training Program. Leslie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Health. She is completing the coursework for a Master's Degree in Education in Human Movement at Boston University and will receive her degree in 2007.
Leslie is a leader in community health organizations. She is a member of the Governor's Committee for Sports and Physical Fitness and Chair of their Senior Citizens Sub-Committee and Self Esteem Boston. Her clients include the Arthritis Foundation, Tufts Health Plan, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Children’s Hospital, New England Women Business Owners, Whole Foods, Society of Women Engineers(SWE), Lucent Technoligies and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
